This digital illustration is inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech—specifically his vision of a world where individuals are judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. Through this piece, I aimed to visually express the enduring power of that message and reflect on its relevance in today’s ongoing fight for racial equity and justice.

In the quiet war between strength and suffering, Detanya was born—a tribute to a dear friend nearing the end of her chemo journey. Rendered with love, this portrait reflects the grace that endures when the body changes and the spirit remains unshaken. Even as hair falls and features fade, beauty does not vanish—it transforms. This is a love letter to her resilience, a mirror to the radiance that illness could never dim.

A single frame from Creed—a favorite film—becomes the canvas for this experimental piece. Rendered in Audacity, sound was used to bend and blur the image, warping resolution and contrast to mirror emotional distortion. Created during a painful separation, Distorted Love is a reflection on imperfection, memory, and the lessons hidden within heartbreak. Like relationships, no image is flawless—yet through active listening, through presence—we find beauty. Not in clarity, but in the way we choose to perceive it.

A reclamation and reimagining, I Am Colored takes a historically loaded phrase and transforms it into a celebration. Where once “colored” was used to diminish, here it is revived to express fullness—of spirit, of identity, of light. This piece speaks to the richness of being African-American, to the kaleidoscope of personality, joy, resilience, and future that lives within. I am not defined by one shade—I am every hue of the rainbow, a bright soul with a radiant path ahead.
